Can you tell me about your background and your inventive path?
I spent my adolescence running wild throughout the bush and on the seaside, it was very idyllic. We didn’t watch so much TV, so we again and again used our imaginations to have fun. I moreover spent fairly quite of time in Thailand (my mother is from Chiang Rai), so this moreover helped shape my love and appreciation for nature and vegetation. I’ve always most well-liked to paint, then again I was anxious about ‘doing it’ like a very good artist, so later when I moved to Sydney and studied design, majoring in textiles and graphics, in school. I started out running as a textile dressmaker for a swimming gear brand for a 12 months or so forward of moving to New York. I always wanted to do my own issue, so I made up our minds to organize as a freelancer proper right here. I now divide my time between freelance client artwork, commissions, and Ohkii Studio duties. It can be difficult balancing all the different compromises, then again I will have to no longer have it some other approach.
What led you to create this magnificent range of scarves?
As my background is in textile design, I have always admired and been fascinated by fabrics and textiles. I imagine it was a natural construction for me to combine my illustrations on textiles.

My love for Agatha Christie to start with were given right here from my Nan. She had all her books in her library and impressed me to be informed them. We moreover watched out of date Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes movement footage together. So for me, nostalgia no doubt plays into my inspiration. Since then I’ve been gorgeous obsessed with a wide variety of murder mysteries! I just like the excessive drama, the humor and the eye-catching characters. I moreover assume the period of time all the way through which a large number of those older novels are set is very good for robe and design references.
What is your inventive process?
I draw my inspiration from many places, along with the flora and fauna, global travel adventures, folktales, and out of date books. Once I have an idea, I spend some time sketching out difficult ideas and then transfer straight away to painting regardless of it is I’m searching for to create. Once in a while I get it correct in one transfer, other cases it takes me 10 or 20 tries to get the proper concept! If I have time, I will be able to get away from him for a day or two and take a look at him yet again with recent eyes. This normally helps point out anything that should be mounted. Once I have all my paintings painted, I scan the whole thing into the computer and do the finishing touches. An sudden advantage of having your own products is being able to come up with concepts for image shoots. It’s the sort of lot fun gazing your ideas come to life.
What is your favorite piece from this range?
